Kasami Award

Prof. Masuda, a former Ph.D. student, received Kasami Award regarding the Ph.D. dissertation below (2019/3/25). Kasami Award aims to honor preeminent young researchers who obtained their Ph.D. degrees from Osaka University.

ASP-DAC 2020

Prof. Hashimoto gave an invited talk entitled “Soft Error and Its Countermeasures in Terrestrial Environment” at Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference (ASP-DAC) held in Beijing from Jan. 13 to 16, 2020.
Also, Prof. Cheng Zhuo of Zhejiang University presented our collaboration work entitled “When Single Event Upset Meets Deep Neural Networks: Observations, Explorations, and Remedies”.

Prof. Hashimoto received ASP-DAC Prolific Author Award, which was given to the authors who have published more than 25 papers in the 25 ASP-DACs.

TSLDM Best Paper Award

Salita Sombatsiri, a former Ph.D. student, received the Best Paper Award of IPSJ Transactions on System LSI Design Methodology on Aug. 28, 2019. The title of the awarded paper is “Parallelism-flexible Convolution Core for Sparse Convolutional Neural Networks on FPGA”.

Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow

On May 17, this laboratory alumnus Dr. Ngueyn Ngoc Binh, former president of VNU University of Engineering and Technology (VNU-UET), received award entitled “Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow” from President Nishio of Osaka University. The title of Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow was established for graduates and former faculty members of Osaka University who are active at overseas universities and research institutions. He is the 27th award winner.

IEEE Kansai Section Student Research Encouragement Award

Mr. Masuda received the IEEE Kansai Section Student Research Encouragement Award on February 22. This prize is awarded to a student who has published outstanding English papers at an international conference hosted by the IEEE. The awarded paper is as follows.

Y. Masuda, M. Hashimoto, and T. Onoye, “Performance evaluation of software-based error detection mechanisms for localizing electrical timing failures under dynamic supply noise,” IEEE/ACM International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD), 2015.


Mr. Tanaka gave a presentation entitled “A Modeling Method for Real time Control System using Shared Resource Description” on October 21st in Embedded System Symposium 2016 (ESS2016). This paper receives the best paper award in this symposium.



Ms. Hirao and Mr. Mitsunari gave presentations in the SISA 2016 (International Workshop on Smart Info-Media Systems in Asia) at Thailand from September 14 to 17, 2016.

Ms. Hirao gave a presentation entitled “Arrhythmia Detection Using a Deformable Part Model and Time Domain Features”. She received the SISA Best Student Paper Award.



Mr. Mitsunari gave a presentation entitled “Influence of Numerical Precision on Machine Learning and Embedded Systems”.
